This site supports Bruce Blakeman and his run for the Senate. New York and indeed the country need a Senator with his integrity, energy and Republican views. We need to stop the massive waste coming out of Washington and get people in the Senate who will bring accountability to our politicians.
Bruce Blakeman has a wealth of experience that he can bring to the office. He has been successful in his legal career, is highly sought after in the business world and has consistently helped in his civic duties. The Republican party have recognized his qualities and awarded him over half the votes from the Republican delegates to become the party’s designee. He promised to the delegates that he would bring about change but was quick to clarify it would not be Obama style change instead he wants to promote Republican values of responsibly, accountability and giving people more money in their pockets. He went on to say that successful people and businesses are being hit with tax rises to bail out over spending, he believes this is an attack on the successful. Blakeman believes the government should be encouraging these sectors not punishing them.
Civic duty is in Blakemans blood, his family were very civic minded and they handed down this desire to serve to Bruce. Robert Blakeman, Bruce’s father, was a New York assemblyman, while his brother worked with George Bush as a deputy assistant.
Bruce Blakeman is an acclaimed lawyer who works for Abrams Fensterman and he has over twenty years helping clients in his areas of specialty which include insurance, transportation, real estate, finance and commercial litigation. He was formerly one of the founders of Blakeman and Associates.
Blakeman practices law after getting his degree at Arizona State and his legal qualifications from California Western School of Law. His passion for security of this country led him to complete an advanced certificate in Homeland Security from Long Island University where he subsequently became part of the faculty as a senior fellow. He has also previously taught law at Hofstra University and sat on the board of the Browning School.
Bruce Blakeman has put these skills to work over many years and has also helped the public sector with his knowledge. He has been active in Homeland Security for over ten years serving as commissioner of New York and New Jerseys port Authority from 2001 to 2008. He sat on a number of their committees and subcommittees including the audit and finance committees which has a $4.6 billion budget and has massive risk management issues the committee must deal with. At this time he was also on the Security Subcommittee as its vice chair person.
Bruce Blakemans experience does not stop there as well as previously being counsel to hundred million dollar plus companies Blakeman is also President of Madison Strategies a consulting business and he knows how to work a room and I mean that as a compliment. Madison’s client list is impressive and includes among others large financial businesses and property companies. He also served on the board of Accpac a rising software company.
His impressive CV does not stop there. In the nineties he was also a member, and speaker, for the Nassau County Legislature. His fiscal ancestor skills were again put to good use as the chair of the budget committee, which can be a pressure cooker of a job, and vice chair of the finance committee which controlled a budget of over two billion dollars – it did not come with a prepaid credit card or any such luxuries. Before that post Blakeman illustrated his thirst for serving the public with his role as a member of the board of Hempstead Town.
Bruce Blakeman is if often courted by the mainstream media and court television to give his opinion on current events, often sitting on office chairs or with wicker furniture as he gives the latest soundbite whether it be on the loss of Siemens appliances jobs or some other political story. I agree with Blakeman that the way to get this country out of its slump is to lower taxes which encourages businesses to expand which in turn creates jobs. Blakeman has promised to make the tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 permanent and to lobby for lower business taxes. He also wants to abolish the planned higher rate tax payer’s increase which is due to come in place in the next twelve months. This over spending has to stop and Blakeman believes the country must learn to live within its own revenue stream and stop this ridiculous spend and borrow cycle the country has become a slave to.
